GU KAIZHI AND THE ADMONITIONS SCROLL
Presents the proceedings of the June 2001 international conference, about a singular work of art: the Chinese scroll-painting in the British Museum entitled the Admonitions of the Instructress to the Court Ladies, attributed to the early master Gu Kaizhi. While it is one of the great relics of early Chinese art, its date, authorship, rhetoric and provenance is much less straightforward. Well illustrated, many in color.
