After her family left for America for safety, Charlotte was caught. She was spared the fate of most of the other Jews, she worked in a hospital for a time. However, in 1942 she was sent to Kaiserwald and then was evacuated to Stutthof, an even more horrifying concentration camp. Then she was finally liberated by the Russians. Photos.
