SHOSTAKOVICH: Symphony No. 13

Presents Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No.13 in B Minor, Op.113 "Babi Yar." This composition is based on Yevtushenko's poem Babiy Yar. Babiy Yar was a ravine outside of Kiev and the site of a Nazi atrocity. Here in September 1941, the Jewish population of the entire city was rounded up and murdered. Kirill Karabits conducts the Russian National Orchestra in this memorable work.
