Most mental disorders are classified solely according to the manifestations of clinical symptoms. Neurobiological findings have not helped with diagnosis, and neuroimaging has not become sophisticated enough to find markers of disorders. Heinz proposes a new approach to classification: modeling key learning and decision mechanisms.
