KING LEAR

Novel. Knowing that he is growing old, King Lear gathers his three daughters to divide his kingdom. His vanity causes him to favor the two who flatter him the most, while Cordelia, the daughter who tells the truth, is cast out. His folly is soon laid bare as the king loses retinue, dignity, and finally, his mind. First performed in 1606.
