For generations, the ponies of Chincoteague, Virginia, have enchanted hearts and sparked imaginations. They live wild on Assateague Island; each summer during the iconic Pony Penning celebration, they swim to Chincoteague, come out of the bay, and parade to the carnival grounds, where foals are auctioned off.
