RESOLUTE, REVISED EDITION: John Franklin's Lost Expedition and the Discovery of the Queen's Ghost Ship
In 1854, while attempting a rescue mission, the Resolute became locked in the ice and was abandoned. A whaling ship discovered it drifting 1,200 miles away and returned it to Connecticut. The ship was re-outfitted and returned to Queen Victoria, who had its best timbers made into a desk for President Rutherford B. Hayes. Well illustrated, some in color.
